There are altogether approximately 200 ancient water towns in Suzhou, among which Luzhi, Tongli, Zhouzhuang, Mudu, Shaxi, Qiandeng, Shajiabang, Jinxi, Dongshan, Fenghuang, Guli, Lili, Zhenze, Guangfu andBacheng are ranked as Chinese Historical Cultural Towns.
Luxiang Village, Sanshan Village and Yang wan Village of Dongshan Town, Mingyuewan Village and Dongcun Village of Jinting Town are ranked as Chinese Historical Cultural Villages.
Luzhi Town in Wuzhong District, Zhenze Town in Wujiang District are among the first round of Chinese-Style Towns recognized by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development. Lujia Town of Kunshan City, Haiyu Town of Changshu City, and Qidu Town of Wujiang District are among the second batch of Chinese-Style Towns.
