Cathedral of Suzhou Industrial Park, lies on the western bank of Yangcheng Lake. Its construction began on May 28. A ceremony was held to dedicate the cathedral on December 3, 2014. The cathedral covers an area of more than 12,000 square meters, with a floorage of approximately 5,600 square meters. The Gothic style building integrates Suzhou architectural elements characterized by white walls and black tiles. The cathedral is a combination of typical Suzhou style architectural elements and western style cathedral features represented by arches, columns and arcs. Its dome, 11 meters in diameter, is decorated with a full-length oil painting that embodies “the creation of the universe by God”. Meanwhile, its walls are ornamented with colorful stained glass featuring the Bible character painting. The altar extends its way to the middle of the hall, where a gallery is placed to connect the Cathedral and the Bishops’ House.
