The 17th Lake Cup Regatta kicked off on the Jinji Lake in Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP) on Oct. 23. A total of 21 teams with over 200 athletes from China, the United States, Italy, Britain, and France took part in the event.
As a flagship event of the 2026 Golden Autumn · Three Lakes Carnival in SIP, this year’s Lake Cup Regatta was guided by the Chinese Yachting Association and the Jiangsu Yachting Association. It featured professional keelboat races in J80, FT7.5 and DC20 classes, as well as Optimist races for teenagers.
Water sports have flourished in SIP in recent years, with sailing standing out as a flagship discipline. The 2026 edition of Lake Cup Regatta was a grand water sports gala open to all, presenting various side activities such as a waterfront party, a pier concert, and a GPS orienteering challenge.
This year’s event also offered a limited number of spots for complete novices at sailing, who could board racing boats accompanied by licensed skippers and experience the thrill of racing firsthand.
