The Suzhou North Railway Station Comprehensive Transport Hub started construction on Feb. 24. This project is the largest of its kind in terms of investment in the history of Suzhou.
This renovation project of Suzhou North Railway Station is part of Suzhou’s efforts to build itself into a “national comprehensive transportation hub”, which will help build Jiangsu’s strength in transportation and serve the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta (YRD) region. When its expansion is completed, Suzhou North Railway Station will comprise 10 platforms and 24 tracks, with the station building to have a total floorage of about 170,000 square meters.
According to Suzhou’s development plan of an integrated transport system, Suzhou North Railway Station will be built into a national-level comprehensive transportation hub integrating high-speed rail, inter-city rail, urban rail, and rail transit. As a transportation hub where the Beijing-Shanghai High-speed Railway and the Tongsujiayong High-speed Railway (Nantong-Suzhou-Jiaxing-Ningbo High-speed Railway) meet, the station will play an important role in enhancing regional transportation integration and promoting the high-quality development of Suzhou City and the YRD region.
