At the end of 2015, the State Council officially approved the urban system planning of Jiangsu Province in which Suzhou was positioned as a megacity. It has basically formed the regional city framework composed of the central city of Suzhou, 4 county-level cities and a dozen central towns.
At the end of 2015, the total mileage of road reached 13,238.9 kilometers, among which 550.2 kilometers were expressways. The whole principal line of the middle ring fast road was opened to traffic. Rail Transit No. 1 and No. 2 were officially open to traffic in 2012 and 2013 respectively. The total volume of passenger flow reached 137.842 million person times. The track pavement of the extension of No.2 Urban Rail Transit, No.4 Urban Rail Transit and its sub-line was finished. The construction of No.3 Urban Rail Transit was started. Altogether 2257 new energy and clean energy buses were put into operation.
Suzhou was chosen as one of the first group of the trial cities of comprehensive underground pipelines. The all optical network of "Giga-bit Suzhou" was established successfully. The penetration rate of household gas reached 100%. The processing rate of sewage treatment in urban areas reached 95%.
