Brief Introduction to Aeon East China (Suzhou) Co., LTD.

  Aeon Group (hereafter “Aeon”), founded in September 1926, is a corporate group of general merchandise retail business in Japan along with extensive service business. In 1989, JUSCO Group changed its name to Aeon Group with the integration of 142 companies both inside and outside of Japan, establishing a large-scale multinational corporate group. On 21st August 2001, the original JUSCO Co., Ltd. was registered as Aeon Co., Ltd. officially. In recent years, Aeon has achieved huge success in its investment in various countries and areas such as Southeast Asia, Hong Kong and China through its edge over operating shopping malls, the number of which expands at a rate of 20-30 every year. The main business includes shopping malls and general retail business (General Merchandise Stores and Supermarkets) with its diversification in areas such as specialty stores, financial services, property management and convenience stores. To date, Aeon has grown to become a group comprised of over 300 companies mainly spreading in Japan, China and Southeast Asia, with a total of nearly 18,000 supermarkets and stores. By the end of December 2015, Aeon has had over 611 General Merchandise Stores (GMS) and 1,977 Supermarkets (SM). Aeon, a Group whose capital amounts 7.9421 billion USD, ranked No.111 among Fortune 500 companies in 2017.

  Aeon aims to be a “glocal” (a portmanteau of global and local) company. The Group is to adhere to its Principle of “pursuing peace, respecting humanity, and contributing to local communities, always with customers’ point of view as its core”. Aeon will make every endeavour to foster a strong growth prospect and high profitability in the hope of becoming the No.1 retailer in Asia which enriches people’s life.

  Aeon Co., Ltd.

  The word aeon (AEON) has its origins in a Latin root meaning “eternity.”. In 1970, JUSCO Co., Ltd. was established through a joint venture of Okadaya, Futagi and Shiro. At that time, the company collected suggestions from employees for the name of the new company, and “Japan United Stores Company (JUSCO)” was selected and designated. On August 21, 2001, JUSCO Co., Ltd. was renamed Aeon Co., Ltd.. On August 21, 2008, Aeon shifted to a pure holding company structrure with Aeon Co., Ltd. as its core. Since then, Aeon has been managing and supporting the business activities of its enterprises by holding part of or all the shares of its chain supermarkets and shopping centers at home and abroad to improve the corporate value of the entire group.

  Aeon China

  Since its branching out in Hong Kong in 1985 and  Guangzhou in 1996, Aeon has operated a total of 137 stores of different business forms in China, covering many aspects. From suburban Moore shopping malls to GMS, SM and convenience stores, Aeon is in a position to carry out business in depth according to different development needs to serve local people's livelihood and provide customers with safe and secure goods as well as services. Aeon proposed its important policy of "focusing on Asia" in its three-year mid-term management plan (FY2011-FY2013). On December 26, 2011, Aeon set up Aeon (China) Co., LTD. in Beijing (Aeon Group China headquarters).

  With the guidance of the Group’s strategies, the China headquarters of AEON Group takes a panoramic view of the situation, combining global business perspectives and local pragmatic entrepreneurship in practising the idea of “localized operation with a global perspective”. Meanwhile, the Group continues to strengthen the basis for comprehensive operation in the hope of expediting Aeon Group’s growth in China. The China headquarters will also play a vital role in store and product development, employee recruitment, training, etc, making independent and quick business decisions to support the Group’s strategy for rapid growth of each business. At present, Aeon’s business in China is mainly operated in six regions, ie, Jiangsu, Hubei, Shandong and Guangdong Provinces, Beijing, Tianjin and Hong Kong. Besides General Merchandise Store(GMS), it also engages in the development of commercial real estate, comprehensive financial services, property services, exclusive stores and other businesses. In the future, its business will be gradually expanded to other provinces like Zhejiang and Fujian under the co-ordination of Aeon Group’s headquarters in China.

  · Aeon East China

  Aeon East China (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. is a large-scale retail commercial company established in Jiangsu Province by Aeon (China) Co., Ltd., which enjoys the status of an independent legal entity. At the same time, as the headquarters of Aeon China in East China, AEON East China (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. has successively set up four stores and branches in Jiangsu and Zhejiang Provinces. With a total investment of 1.05 billion yuan (about 0.16 billion USD) and a business area of 20,000 square meters as well as over 1,000 employees, the registered capital of Aeon East China (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. boasts 435 million yuan (about 65.9 million USD). Having established the company in Suzhou, the Group resolves to march into the whole scope of East China. Under the co-ordination of Aeon Group’s headquarters in China, from now on its business will continue to be expanded to other provinces and cities outside of Jiangsu Province.
