Tianchi Mountain, located in Cangshu Town, Wuzhong District of the western part of Suzhou City, enjoys a good reputation in Wuzhong with its grotesque rocks, clear spring and stone house. It boasts gorgeous scenery with water mists, clear pool that reflects hills, mountains and green bamboos and lush forests. Jijian Temple was originally a private residence owned by Kuaiji Prefect Zhang Yu during the Liu Song resign of the Six Dynasties, and then was a villa owned by Secretary to Supervise Zhang Tingjie during the Qiandao resign of the Southern Song Dynasty. The three stone houses in the Temple, all built around mountains from the Yuanzheng 17 years to 23 years (1357-1363), is the only one stone wood structure building of the Yuan Dynasty preserved in today’s Jiangsu Province and therefore becomes a key national cultural relics protection unit. The history of Flower Mountain can date back to the Eastern Jing Dynasty. In Flower Mountain, there are luxuriant trees that can block out the sun, gravel paths that winds along the valley, springs that flow with a gurgling sound as well as pine trees and cypress trees that are seen on the both side of road. Flower Mountain was favored by celebrities and literati since the ancient time. In the Spring Period, thinker Laozi wrote in his work “ Flower Mountain in the west of Suzhou city can provide shelter”. Monk Zhidun in the Eastern Dynasty first came here and constructed temples, and after that, generations of famous monks came to live in seclusion, free from the worldly affairs. Emperors Kanxi and Qianlong in the Qing Dynasty visited the Mountain many times, which make it abundant in natural scenery and historical connotation. The Yuan Buddha Statue was restored and some Scenic Spots, such as the Mountain Avenue, Kwun Yum Hall, Lotus Shed, Plum Blossom Pavilion and Yungen Hill House were completed one after another, which thus makes human landscape blend with natural scenery.
