7 college student organizations form an environmental alliance

  It is reported that 7 college student organizations in Suzhou have set up an environmental protection alliance, which plays an important part in improving the environment: 81 college students have cultivated 10,000 square meters of protection forest in the desert in 6 years; 18 students have carried out a survey of water quality in Luzhi and Tongli ancient towns; and more than 20 students have spent 40 days conducting a census on sources of pollution…

  In March 2018, Wujiang District and Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University jointly established Suzhou (Wujiang) Water Ecological Civilization Research Center. Ma Xurong, deputy director of Wujiang District River Leaders Office, introduced that the center, supported by the university’s international research team, is committed to studies on issues related to water ecological civilization construction such as its theoretical system construction, institutional innovations, statistical monitoring, and publicity and education.

  Great efforts have been made in Suzhou to encourage college students to participate in environmental protection. Cheng Long, an adviser of Green Association of Soochow University, told reporters that Suzhou now has a well-established environmental protection team with more than 250 college volunteers. Under the guidance of the publicity and education center of Suzhou Environmental Protection Bureau, student organizations from 7 colleges and universities including Soochow University, Suzhou University of Science and Technology and Suzhou Institute of Industrial Technology have set up a think tank alliance to provide expertise for Suzhou’s ecological civilization construction and water quality improvement.
