On the morning of August 2nd, the photograph exhibition “Memory of Southern Yangtze: My Home Along the Grand Canal - Changes in Suzhou Section of the Grand Canal” opened in the public cultural center of Wuzhong District.
The exhibition is sponsored by the publicity department of Suzhou Municipal Party Committee and Suzhou Federation of Arts and Literature, and it is organized by Suzhou Photography Association and the Federation of Arts and Literature of Wuzhong District. Among the 100 photos on exhibition, 20 are old photos of Suzhou section of the Grand Canal; the other 80 are photos of its present-day view. The contrast between the old and new photos as well as the visual shock brought by black-and-white pictures and photochromes vividly tell Suzhou’s story of people’s life along the Canal and the continuous development of shipping industry. The photographs display the changes of Suzhou section of the Grand Canal from various perspectives of its views and local cultures on both sides of the canal, etc. The exhibition will last until August 9th.
