The 18th Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit was held from June 9 to 10 in Qingdao, East China's Shandong Province. A gift set named “harmony and coexistence” was chosen as state gifts given to the distinguished guests from all over the world, which includes an eye-catching Song brocade evening bag made by Suzhou Saintjoy Silk Technical Culture Co., Ltd.
Featuring the elements of Shandong traditional handicrafts and Suzhou’s intangible cultural heritage Song brocade, the clutch bag was embroidered with patterns of peonies which stand for peace and prosperity in Chinese culture. With accessories with graceful intertwined design, the gift set highlighted traditional Chinese aesthetics and enchanting fashionable charm.
“The evening bag reflects the craftsmanship of the weavers in the connection of fabric patterns, the selection of auxiliary materials and the color matching of patterns,” said Wu Jianhua, the president of Saintjoy. He told the reporters that when receiving the order of state gifts for the SCO Summit, the enterprise immediately selected the most experienced workers to make the fabric needed with the best raw material. Saintjoy’s state gift design team led by Wu himself had revised the draft design many times and at last decided on the peony pattern designed by Pan Lusheng, the president of Shandong University of Art & Design. The whole producing process from pattern designing, fabric selecting to post-processing was supervised by skilled professionals. It took half a year to accomplish the production of the state gifts.
Saintjoy is dedicated to inheriting and developing of the world intangible cultural heritage Song brocade and has applied the brocade to the making of various products. The company is the only fabric supplier for the clothes worn by leaders attending the 2014 APEC Summit in Beijing. And its products have been chosen as state gifts for many times.
